Bacteria Associated with Skin Piercing Equipment and their Antibiotic Susceptibility Pattern in Port Harcourt Metropolis

Skin Piercing is becoming rampant among adolescent in our contemporary society without considering its health implication and the risk of pathogenic microorganisms associated with equipment used. Hence, this research carried out to determine bacteria skin piercing their antibiotic susceptibility pattern Port Harcourt metropolis. A total thirty (30) were swab using sterile sticks samples subjected standard microbiological technique as well plate count, culturing, identification Kirby Bauer Disk diffusion method. Antimicrobial sensitivity testing results shows are susceptible Erythromycin, Gentamicin Ofloxacin (100%) resistant Augmentin, Ceftazidime, Cefuroxime Ceftriaxone was Susceptible Gentamicin, Nitrofurantoin Ciprofloxacin Augmentin (100%). These isolated mostly may result an increase complication a non-hygienic protocol employed during equipment. Professionals should enlighten give advisory comment about risks practices.
